Kim Soo-hyun’s agency acts against Indian blogger for unauthorised content

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, has initiated legal action against an Indian influencer and blogger known as @ckdramaboy for sharing unauthorized images of the actor. The controversy arises amid ongoing discussions surrounding the recent death of actress Kim Sae-ron and her past relationship with Kim Soo-hyun.

The influencer disclosed emails from Gold Medalist demanding the removal of specific content featuring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron, citing infringement of image rights. The agency’s email outlined three primary demands:

  1. Removal of all infringing content featuring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron.
  2. Disabling access to the specified URLs or video IDs.
  3. Implementing measures to prevent further uploading or sharing of infringing content.

In response, @ckdramaboy shared these communications publicly, emphasizing transparency and expressing a commitment to seeking justice for Kim Sae-ron’s death. The influencer also noted that his K-drama fan page was at risk of being taken down due to these legal threats.

This development is part of a broader controversy involving Kim Soo-hyun. The actor has faced scrutiny over rumors of a past relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was 15 at the time. On March 14, Gold Medalist issued a statement confirming that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship but clarified that they did not date until Sae-ron reached the age of majority. The agency also denied allegations of pressuring Kim Sae-ron to repay 700 million won (approximately Rs 4.19 crore).

Kim Sae-ron tragically died by suicide on February 16, 2025. In the aftermath, her family has expressed frustration over the agency’s actions, alleging a lack of support and inappropriate legal pressures. The situation has sparked widespread discussions among fans and the public, highlighting the complexities of celebrity relationships and the responsibilities of management agencies.

The incident involving the Indian blogger underscores the global reach of South Korean entertainment and the legal challenges that can arise from unauthorized content sharing. It also reflects the heightened sensitivity surrounding the personal lives of celebrities and the potential repercussions for those who engage in disseminating unapproved material.

As the situation continues to unfold, it raises important questions about the balance between fan engagement and intellectual property rights, as well as the ethical considerations in reporting on personal matters of public figures.
